Orbit World Travel Celebrates 29 Years

The triumphs, the tears and the teamwork. 

It’s our birthday! And whilst 29 is not your typical milestone birthday, we have a lot to celebrate… opening new offices, increasing our servicing team, welcoming new clients, rolling out new tech to enhance service levels and quality control and investing in our People…

But let’s take a step back to where it all started, if we look all the way back to 1994, our Founding Partner and Director, Lisa Story took a calculated leap when she bought what was then a Westpac Travel office in Sydney’s Double Bay.

This modest single office was where Orbit World Travel (formerly World Travel Professionals) was established, Lisa explains, “We identified an opportunity in the market for high-quality, professional travel agency services. We went about creating innovative solutions for corporate travellers, seamless journeys for luxury leisure enthusiasts, and we took away the complexities for group and event travel arrangers.”

So successful was this venture  that in 2013 the House of Travel Group saw an opportunity to expand their Orbit Travel corporate brand in Australia and invested in the business. In 2016 Orbit Travel in New Zealand and World Travel Professionals rebranded to form Orbit World Travel, becoming the largest privately owned corporate travel company in Australasia. Our growth didn’t stop there, in 2019 we joined the Travel Leaders Network, further expanding our global reach.

…and then the pandemic hit. We used the valuable lessons learnt during this time to build an even stronger business for our people, clients, suppliers and shareholders. This is why we’re refreshing our brand, alongside what we stand for: Outstanding, Resourceful, Brave, Integrity and Teamwork. This is an exciting ride we’d love you to join us on – so watch this space, we’ve only just started.
