
It’s a milestone year for Orbit World Travel as we celebrate our 30th anniversary. This significant occasion marks three decades of dedication, innovation, and unwavering commitment to providing exceptional travel experiences. From our humble beginnings to becoming a leading force in the travel industry, our journey has been nothing short of extraordinary.
In July 1994, our Founding Partner and Director, Lisa Story, embarked on a daring venture by acquiring a Westpac Travel office in Sydney’s Double Bay.

This modest single office was the birthplace of what would eventually become Orbit World Travel, originally known as World Travel Professionals. Reflecting on those early days, Lisa recalls;

Our commitment to excellence and innovation quickly bore fruit. By 2013, the House of Travel Group recognised the potential to expand their Orbit Travel corporate brand in Australia and invested in our business. This partnership marked a turning point, propelling us towards new heights. In 2016, we rebranded to Orbit World Travel, uniting Orbit Travel in New Zealand and World Travel Professionals. This strategic move established us as the largest privately owned corporate travel company in Australasia.
Our journey hasn’t been without its challenges. The COVID-19 pandemic tested our resilience like never before. However, we emerged stronger, drawing on the valuable lessons learnt during this period to rebuild and innovate. We used this time to reflect on our values and brand, leading to a refresh that aligns with our core principles: Outstanding, Resourceful, Brave, Integrity, and Teamwork.

Thirty years is a significant timeline in the evolution of travel technology… and there has been some remarkable advancements… from paper tickets to e-tickets, and from multiple booking platforms to the consolidation of bookings in Online Booking Tools, and to greater traveller protection with Duty of Care Programs – have all revolutionised the way people plan and experience travel.
