British Airways will recommence services to Melbourne from 11 January 2027, operating daily flights from London via Kuala Lumpur.
The service will be operated by a four-class Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, marking the airline’s return to Melbourne after more than 20 years. The route provides an additional long-haul option between Australia and the UK, with convenient connectivity via Kuala Lumpur.
Royal Brunei Airlines has introduced a new Melbourne to London Heathrow route via Bandar Seri Begawan, offering another one-stop connection between Australia and the UK.
Ahead of its opening in the second half of 2026, Western Sydney International Airport has confirmed it will move away from traditional airline-specific check-in counters.
Instead, passengers will have access to shared facilities, including 40 check-in kiosks and 34 bag drop stations, designed to streamline the airport experience regardless of airline.
Melbourne Airport is progressing a major expansion of its international terminal, including larger check-in and baggage claim areas, along with five new aircraft stands.
The project will be delivered in stages over several years and is supported by the new T123 Transport Hub, including updated pick-up and drop-off zones. This expansion aligns with the airport’s long-term growth, including a third runway scheduled to open in 2031.
W Sydney has been awarded Sustainable Tourism Certification by Ecotourism Australia.
The certification recognises a comprehensive approach to sustainability across the hotel’s operations, including energy efficiency, water management, waste reduction and community impact, reflecting initiatives embedded since opening.
